dishabille

Our theme this week: words starting with "dis".  And today's word is...

dishabille

Meaning:
1) The state of being partially dressed.
2) To dress casually or in loungewear.
3) The state or manner of being careless, as in clothing.

Today's word came directly from French déshabillé which means "undress".

Examples:
"As I was trying out pants to purchase, the store clerk inadvertently opened the changing room door exposing me in dishabille to the half dozen shoppers in the store."
"Maryanne's slipshod outfit is probably a good indication of her current mental dishabille."
