befuddle

I couldn't make up my mind which words to list this week.  There are several words I love to feature but they don't have a common theme.  So this week, we'll look into five words.  Words that I love.  Ordinary, everyday, words that somehow, for one reason or another, are lively and not all that drab.

First up...

befuddle

Forms:
befuddled, befuddling, befuddles, befuddlement.

Meaning:
1) Confuse or perplex.
2) Confound with alcoholic drinks.

Example:
"While it's true my allergy medication is a non-drowsy formula, it nevertheless leaves me quite befuddled and out of sorts the whole day."
"After downing several happy hour drinks at the local bar, B. R. Stein was so befuddled he couldn't remember where he parked his car."
